SAAS is in the process of changing the way it's working. It started more than 10 years ago as a support service for general practitioners and evolved into service providing telephone consultations and internet support directly to people suffering with sleeping difficulties. Assessments and treatments ranged from the conventional to the non-conventional (albeit with some scientific support). This approach has worked well but a proportion of cases could have been dealt with more effectively had there been stronger medical backup and facilities .
In order to improve the service SAAS is now strongly collaborating with the Edinburgh Sleep Centre. As part of this collaboration Dr C Idzikowski will now be taking face-to-face clinics at the Edinburgh and London Sleep Centres (also Hillsborough, Northern Ireland). The centre has a multidisciplinary, cross-speciality, comprehensive approach to the treatment of sleep disorders.
